One of the first places we always stop (mostly because it’s close to the bathrooms) is the aquarium at the zoo.
TJ highly approves of the activity.
It’s amazing watching them watch the fish, especially as the shark approaches.

This tiger had a great idea: go hide in the shade, lay down, and nap.
While we couldn’t do that, the kids did find a tiger statue that was just too tempting to not climb onto.
If you can’t get a picture with the real thing, how about with the statue of the real thing?

If you usually join me on Monk of Mists (MoM Notes tag on social media) then you can just skip this post if you want. There will be a normal FF post shortly.
I scheduled this one to highlight some of my Legion themed posts because as of today, as of approximately this time, my copy of Legion will be arriving via UPS… while I’m still at work.
Fortunately, Labor Day is just around the corner and this is the weekend we plan to dedicate jumping right into the game as much as is possible (school starts next week so we’ll have some prep for that going on too.
I’ve written a few Legion themed posts leading up to the game’s launch, so here they are.
I am prepared.
Are you?

Newbie was completely sucked into watching the zoo’s bird show. The last couple of years it’s either rained or we’ve barely missed it (or both) so this was the first year we were able to actually enjoy the full show for a while.
Her favorite was probably the red legged seriema which enjoys beating its lizard food on the ground.

I’m not sure at what point this was taken during our adventure at the zoo.
I assume it was later in the day, but it’s a perfect blackmailing material for the “cool teenager” in the future.
We were sure to make multiple water breaks and walking breaks for everyone’s benefit to ensure there were no bouts of heat exhaustion vomiting (past years taught us that lesson).
In no time we were ready to be on our way again though.

We’re at the zoo when…
a wild Redflare appears!
The fact we actually got a picture with all of us is pretty cool. Either Uncle M or Aunt RA took the picture.
They joined in on the next one, but of course Redflare ducked back behind the camera for that.
We were ready to venture into the dino exhibit.

You dare to tell the toddler “no”?
Are you sure you really should?
Trying to put a leash on a toddler is always a unique experience.
Sometimes she’s accepting of it, sometimes, not so much.
The leash means boundaries (and safety) but all she sees are the boundaries. :p
It’s always funny seeing others react to a leashed child. When we see it, if my eyes meet the fellow parent’s eyes I offer a knowing smile and nod. Most fellow parents seem to understand the entire point of such a contraption. Some non parents point and judge.
Let them, my baby is safe and I know right where she is.

This was one of the favorite dinos this time around.
Newbie almost managed to climb up and touch it, but a quick reminder and she climbed right down.

Uh, guys? I think it’s time we moved on before we become a snack.
-FF
Newbie insisted that she be able to pose in front of all the cute baby dinosaurs.
Who are we to say no?
