Finally

Well, it’s easy to put a date on this picture because it’s the release date for Detroit: Become Human, May 25, 2018.

There’s a funny backstory to this though.

The announcement came out for this two years ago at E3. The developers of Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain bringing us a game on the PS4? Yes please!

Redlfare excitedly pre-orders it, trusting Amazon’s estimated release date of December 31, 2016… and then it suddenly becomes December 31, 2017 when she goes to check it.

She’d ordered it for me for Christmas that year (2016) with a sweet little IOU slip. We do that sometimes for games. I know I certainly don’t mind waiting for an awesome game when the release date is already close to a special occasion.

Amusingly, this came out two days after my birthday in 2018, so maybe she preordered my birthday gift two years early? 😉

This has been a very highly anticipated game for my household though, and eventually there will be a section of scenes played by yours truly over on Monk of Mists https://monkofmists.wordpress.com/ . It’s sort of a pain in the butt to set up recording the PS4 reliably, so I’m probably not going to do that, but if you don’t mind spoilers of random scenes from that game, they’ll be on that blog once the game has been out for a while longer.

My review of it so far? Fantastic. I can’t wait to watch Redflare and the teenagers play it and see how our two stories differ.

Superman as Thanos in Fortnite

I was tempted to put this on Monk of Mists where most of my gaming videos go but I decided to put it here because it involves Superman’s play.

Superman screamed in what we thought was terror but was actually joy as he secured the gauntlet.

And then he got it again!

Entwined Gameplay Sample

So one of the games from Playstation Plus this month was “Entwined”.

It was most certainly a curiosity.

The controls feel incredibly foreign at first blush. You only use the left and right sticks and you push those sticks to the far edges in opposite directions.

The goal for the story mode (which is what I’ve sampled here) is to fill up the bars on each side by collecting the gems. You lose gems if you miss your colored markers as you fly through the level.

I’ve enjoyed it so far. It’s a quick one, but it’s a fun one. I look forward to finishing the story and then perhaps trying a challenge or two.

Learning Curve: Editing PS4 Videos

For my birthday one of the things we got was the PS4.

(Parental life hack for large families, you get it as a gift for your birthday even though others in the family will likely use it more… this way you have a reason to say sibling 1 must share with sibling 2 since it technically isn’t for either of them.)

One of the cooler features of the PS4 is the “Share” button. Those that follow me on twitter or Facebook are already seeing my use of that.

Here is my first foray into uploading a recorded video though. Edited down to show off some of Transistor’s “speed attack” systems.

It’s a game I expect I’ll be returning to.

They offer a very powerful editing tool though, I look forward to getting used to it more and seeing what I can accomplish with it.
