The benches here are near some bathrooms. It’s a great central place to stop and rest after wandering around the zoo most of the day.

Thunderer has a tendency to chase robins through our yard, stating simply, “want to pet them!”
This Robin must have known it was perfectly safe from the toddler exhibit due to the fence. I don’t even remember what enclosure we were at when this happened. Thunderer was awestruck with being this close.

Another animal statue? Sounds like it’s time for a photo op!
Yes, it is that hard to get a picture like this of all of them.

It was odd seeing a mascot character at the zoo, but there it was anyway.
Their goal was to share with kids the importance of staying away from substations.
Seems like a worth goal, even if little Thunderer refused to have anything to do with the mascot.
Newbie went right up and said hello. She also provided a comforting hand to her brother, who seemed a bit wary too.

Naturally, they’re getting more than ketchup, but some of them, as I waited for their fry order snack to be ready, were licking from the ketchup containers like cats.
Superman almost looks like he took Redflare seriously. :p
But then the fries came, and they all rejoiced.

We try to get a group picture of all of them on this wolf statue every time we visit the zoo.
It’s sad knowing they don’t 100% fit on the wolf anymore. TJ had to lean up against its butt.

You wouldn’t know it from this picture, but we’re still at the zoo. The path between the “farm” area and the rest of the zoo has a nice walk path.
They each found a small rock and gave it a toss into the water… or tried to.

Newbie was highly impressed with the bullfrog. I’m not sure why we’ve always encouraged a kindness to frogs except for the obvious ‘be nice to animals’ thing, but they always appreciate them when they get to see them.
I do not look forward to if any of them are confronted with a school project to dissect one.

A turtle was trying to climb inside his environment and just kept slipping down, hence the smirks on their faces.
His fourth try finally rewarded him with success as he climbed out of the water.

Redflare took this picture because the turkey, up close, really did have a lot of pretty plumage and wanted to admire it better.
When we see them in the wild, they’re always wandering through a farmer’s field, too far away to appreciate all the colors in their feathers.
So here’s hoping that your Monday isn’t a turkey to you, and if it is, you can at least stop and appreciate something pretty around you, at least for a moment.
